We all know the strict IMO regulations for large vessels and VDRs, but there are none for vessels under 3000GRT—why?
It seems ridiculous, considering the value of workboats and other small watercraft, and it is even more important when these vessels are owned and operated by smaller companies. Why don’t people use data recorders on small vessels?
The answer is simple – costs!
A full VDR is a substantial investment, and putting one on a small tug boat, for example, is possibly a bit over the top, but there is a solution—a mini data recorder. It basically does the job of a VDR but is compact in size and requires much less of a financial investment – less than one might think!

The X-VHFR is our simple mini data recorder which is easily integrated into a smaller vessel bridge. The X-VHFR can be fitted to any vessel under 3000GRT. Harbours and Port offices can also utilise the smaller X-VHFR recorders to monitor vessel movements and VHF transmissions at Port entry and exit points.

X-MDR A ‘Dashcam’ for your ship!
The X-MDR is our ‘Dash Cam’ model with optional CCTV expansion which can also include a removable hard drive
