Goodbye and words in Honour of Robin Grigg
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our Chief Technical Officer, colleague and friend Robin Grigg.
After 15 months of treatment, and with a good quality of life since his diagnosis, Robin died of stage 4 cancer on Tuesday morning, 11th February 2025. As we come to terms with the loss of Robin, we are inspired by the brilliant life he lived. Robin Began his life in Scotland and then joined the British Navy after finishing school, where much of his home life was based in Gosport, on the South Coast of England. We all enjoyed his Navy Day stories, and many laughs were shared in our office as he regaled us with a tail of ‘this one time in the Navy’. Robin’s humour and cutting wit never failed to make us all smile.
Robin joined AMI Marine in the early 1990’s and became a critical team member, driving the development of our key interfacing products and new VDR systems particularly. His technical mind and knowledge were paramount to the growth of our brand and the expansion of our product portfolio over the past 30 years. Rob had a brilliant ability to read navigation equipment, understanding the tweaks and changes that would fix issues and then to create new ideas and upgrades. Quite simply, Robin was a key player within the team of AMI Marine, and a pillar of support to all in our technical network internationally. Over many decades, Robin trained hundreds of engineers from around the world, and his passing will be felt by all who had the privilege of engaging with him. | ![]() |
![]() | More than his work and career accolades, Robin was a husband, father, grandfather and friend. Robin’s son Martin Grigg, followed in his father’s footsteps, by starting his working career at AMI Marine in January 2011 after finishing his university degree. Martin worked alongside his father to help articulate many of our products, new ideas and services to the world. Our hearts go out to Martin and his immediate family during this incredibly difficult time and we are keeping them in our thoughts and prayers. |
The loss of Robin will impact us all, but we are grateful for having had him in our lives. We will miss him dearly. His presence brought joy and laughter to our working day, and his contributions to AMI Marine were invaluable. It’s hard to imagine our team without him, but we will cherish the memories we have and are determined to carry forward his legacy in the years still to come.
