24 Peaks Challenge
Team AMI Marine took on the ’24 Peaks Challenge’, they endured what was the most physically demanding day of their life!
#teamami did exceptionally well given the heatwave, water shortages and overall conditions on the mountain – this event is actually graded as Iron man status, little did we know!
Being a difficult challenge is an understatement!
Our team managed to reach 4 peaks out of the 10 but unfortunately did not reach the check point on time and so were re-routed to the end pick up point earlier as a precautionary measure.
They walked from 5.28am to 5.45pm! Due to going off route to find water, the team became delayed due to the extremely hot conditions.
Despite being dehydrated, exhausted, and sun burned (despite wearing high factor sun block), they never gave up despite numerous other teams turning back early due to heat exhaustion and sickness.
Our team were outstanding and what they have achieved in the conditions they faced is phenomenal!!!
Personally I (driver Lucy) have never been prouder, when I collected the team and gave them water and sugary drinks there were tears of relief.
The team supported each other to what was without question the biggest physical challenge of their life!
Well done!
We will continue to support Seafarers UK and we are going to keep our sponsor page open, what the team faced was over whelming and although we did not complete the challenge our team was CHALLENGED!
