DanEI-300 Electronic Inclinometer

SKU: DAN-0001

The DanEI-300 Electronic Inclinometer is an advanced heel and pitch measuring device which is not sensitive to horizontal and vertical accelerations. This will provide information to a better understanding of the ship‘s movement and steering behaviour, supervision of trim, cargo status, and stability status.

On rolling vessels, the usual bubble or pendulum inclinometers indicate values that are too high. This margin error can be up to 30% of the measured value. As the DanEI-300 will not be affected by these accelerations it shows the true inclination and roll period. Furthermore, DanEI-300 can contribute to the reduction of fuel consumption and the improvement of safety.

The Electronic Inclinometer measures and displays:

  • Pitch Angle
  • Heel Angle
  • Roll Period
  • Amplitude (port & starboard)
  • Additional trend plots display heel angle for the latest 3 minutes and roll amplitude for the latest 30 minutes
  • Acceleration parameters – heave, sway and surge

BSH type-approved according to:

  • IMO Performance Standards MSC.363(92) (functional compliance)
  • Environmental conditions – IEC 60945
  • Serial and network interfaces – IEC 61162- 1, -2, -450
  • Presentation of information – IEC 62288

Incl. display unit w/ mounting kit, sensor unit w/ mounting kit and cables

  • DAN-0002 – Display Unit w/ Mounting Kit

Daniamant Responds To New IMO Regulations With The DanEI-300T Electronic Inclinometer

December 17, 2021

Daniamant presents its electronic inclinometer, the DanEl-300, which is helping the industry to meet upcoming regulations set by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO).

The IMO is making it a mandatory carriage requirement for new-build container vessels and dry-bulk carriers to have electronic inclinometers on board. The new IMO regulation is expected to be in force by early 2024 and is anticipated to require two sets of electronic inclinometers on each vessel for redundancy. The electronic inclinometer will need to be interfaced with the mandatory Voyage Data Recorder (VDR), to record the vessel’s heel and roll.

Approvals

The DanEI-300 electronic inclinometer, which is type-approved to the IMO performance standard and will carry the wheel-mark when the IMO decision is final, is an advanced heel and pitch measuring device which is not sensitive to horizontal and vertical accelerations. In addition to the required heel data, the DanEI-300 will measure and record the two other rotation parameters being pitch and yaw, with the vessel’s three acceleration parameters measuring and recording heave, sway, and surge.

The innovative design provides the user with information to a better understanding of the ship‘s movement and steering behaviour, supervision of trim, cargo status, and stability status. On rolling vessels, the usual bubble or pendulum inclinometers indicate values that are too high. This margin error can be up to 30% of the measured value. As the DanEI-300 will not be affected by these accelerations it shows the true inclination and roll period. Furthermore, the DanEI-300 can contribute to the reduction of fuel consumption and improvement of safety. With additional beneficial features including the easy-to-install plug ’n’ play concept: not requiring any calibration on installation or in daily use.

Kevin Rough, CEO at Daniamant, says, “Keeping people safe while they navigate our waters is what drives us at Daniamant, and we continuously strive to create products that not only meet standards but exceed them. The new IMO mandate will come into force by 2024, so it’s vital that the industry stays ahead of the curve and starts implementing the requirements as soon as it can. We will work closely with our partners to make sure they are meeting the new requirements.”
